Toto is the company that makes the fancy Japanese toilets, also known as Washlets. They come with a heated seat, a bidet, and deodorizer, among other things.
Before forming Toto its members were session musicians for Steely Dan[3] Seals, Crofts[4] Boz Skaggs, Sonny and Cher. Guitarist Steve Lukather was the band's lead singer.
About Toto
The group Toto was formed in 1976 by guitarists Jeff Porcaro and David Paich (who were also highly acclaimed studio musicians who worked with Boz Scaggs at the time) and singer/bassist Bobby Kimball. The group's name was derived from a Latin word that means "all-encompassing" and was determined to explore every style of music.
In 1981, Toto's third album Turn Back is a failure however, they bounce back with their fourth album Isolation that features two hits including the title track and Roseanna. The album and tour make Toto a household name across the globe.
After a break of few years, Toto return with the album Fahrenheit in 1986. It's a change from the ballads that were featured on previous albums and also includes some heavy rock. It was their first platinum album in North America.
When they record the band's fifth album the band loses their manager and are faced with financial difficulties. They decide to record a brand new album and change their name to a different producer. The lead vocalist Fergie Frederiksen departs and is replaced by Joseph Williams, son of legendary film composer John Williams and 1950s actress Barbara Ruick. Joseph is a more natural frontman than Frederiksen and gives the band a needed boost.
The band releases Mindfields in 1999 and embarks on a huge tour around the world. After a few months in Europe they head to Japan where the shows are sold out. After a brief break, Toto resumes recording and continues to record their first live album, Absolutely Live in 1993 which includes an original cover of Weezer's song Hash Pipe in response to the band covering their hit Africa on the recent tour. Toto's touring band is rounded out by drummer Lenny Castro, bassist Shannon Forrest and keyboardist Shem von Schroeck.
Music
Toto is an American rock band that had their greatest success in the eighties. The band was founded by experienced session musicians and has sold more than 40 million albums around the world.
Toto was the first album released by the band in 1978. It was a huge hit that catapulted the band into international fame. Since then, the band has released fourteen more albums, which are also hits.
Toto composed their first and sole film score in 1984 for the film Dune. It was a huge undertaking that required the entire group to be involved. The album that followed, Kingdom of Desire, was another successful record. After 스포츠토토 , Bobby Kimball quit the band. He was replaced by Fergie Frederiksen of Le Roux. The band pushed forward with their fifth album, Isolation. The album featured a number of songs including "Stranger in Town".
After Isolation, Toto took a break from the spotlight and stepped away from the stage. This gave the individual members of the group the chance to pursue their own projects. In 1996, the band reformed to tour and make an album. This was the first time all original members were on stage together in over a decade.
The next year, Toto toured together with Ringo Starr and his All Starr Band. This was the last time that the original Toto members Toto were performing together. The group broke up following this. Toto reunited for a benefit concert in 2010 to raise funds for the ALS Foundation. It was the first time in 31 years that all of Toto's founding members were on stage together. In addition to the original members, keyboardist Greg Tambu filled in for Paich and bassist David Hungate filled in for Shem Von Schroeck.
Tours
Toto is one of the most popular groups in rock music. They have had hits like "Rosanna," Hold The Line," and "Africa," which has been certified as platinum 8X. The band's anthemic arena-rock is influenced by a variety of styles, including progressive rock, world rhythms soul, and jazz.
The band suffered several setbacks during their later years, despite their acclaim. In 2002, drummer Greg Phillinganes left the group and keyboardist David Paich took a leave of absence due to health issues. Shem von Schröeck was brought in to replace him however, the group wasn't the same without Paich or Phillinganes. In 2008, Toto decided to take the time off from touring due to a string lineup changes and a disappointing string of releases. But, the group recommenced touring in 2012 following the release of their album, 40 Trips Around the Sun.
The album was a return to the band's best form, and the tour that went with it featured sold-out concerts in North America and Europe. Toto's reunion was helped by the addition of guitarist Steve Lukather and bassist Shem von Schroeck, both of whom had returned to the band.
Toto's music is just as relevant as it was back in the 1970s and 1980s and is gaining new fans with each new generation. Their success has made them a constant part of pop culture and their live shows are always filled with energy and excitement.
